Christmas and relatives

I have four grown kids, and yet I'm always bending to accomodate the 'other side' of their families. I used to think it was gender-based. That girls tended to spend more time with their family since they are generally doing the planning. Yet my daughters have both always made it clear that....'Mike's family celebrates on xmas eve....so, we'll come here on xmas day.' Or, the opposite for the other daughter. Daughter-in-laws have recently told me that they will be visiting both grandma and mother on xmas day and maybe we can 'squeeze' in a visit to home.

Now, you might think, that the reason lies with me having a crappy Christmas. Not so, when the kids and grandkids all get together, the festivities, joking, laughing, and general tomfoolery is over-the-top with enjoyment.
So, what's the story? Do any others experience the same squashed feeling when plans are made? Am I over-sensitive?
